How Well Testing Package works
A well testing package integrates the equipment needed to receive, control, separate and measure a wellstream under a defined test program. The scope can include choke manifold, heater, two or three phase separator, surge tank, metering, ESD and utilities. Package interfaces and operating sequence are established through the P&ID and the site layout.
From wellstream control to measured discharge
A test spread is defined by the approved test program. Typical upstream items include a surface test tree, surface safety valve, data header, choke manifold and an optional sand handling stage. Depending on the fluid and test objective, downstream equipment may include an indirect heater or heat exchanger, two- or three-phase test separator with oil, gas and water metering, surge or gauge tank, transfer pumps, diverter manifold, burner or flare connection, ESD controls, data acquisition and utilities. Individual equipment ratings and the interface between high-pressure and lower-pressure sections are identified on the P&ID; the exact supply scope is agreed in the offer.
Developed for the operating duty
Typical applications
- Exploration and appraisal well testing
- Production test and clean-up operations
- Skid or trailer mounted field packages
Inputs for engineering
- Expected wellstream rates and pressure/temperature envelope
- Oil, gas and water composition and test objectives
- Equipment boundaries, transport limits and hazardous area
What the package can include
- Process and mechanical package integration
- Equipment, piping, instrumentation and shutdown philosophy
- GA, P&ID, inspection plan, FAT and handover documents
Final sizes, material grades, pressure classes, makes, testing and documentation are specified in the approved technical offer. We coordinate applicable design, fabrication, inspection and quality records against the project requirements.
Can the package include a three phase separator?
Yes. The separator and associated equipment are selected to the process rates and testing program.
