A 5K surface well testing package brings together the equipment needed to control and measure the output of a well with a specified 5,000 psi high-pressure inlet class. Starting at the flowhead interface, the proposed arrangement passes through safety isolation, data and choke sections before heat conditioning where needed, test separation and downstream measurement or transfer. The test program determines whether gas, oil and water need individual metering, how liquids are stored or disposed of, and which utilities are available. The separator and downstream components are designed to their own operating and relief cases after the choke; they do not inherit the inlet rating. Battery limits and the item list are fixed in the approved offer.
What a 5K surface well testing spread can include
A package can be supplied as individual skids or an integrated spread. The precise battery limits, equipment count and approved vendors are determined with the client; an item shown below is an available configuration, not an automatic inclusion.
Wellstream control
Surface test tree or flowhead interface, 5K class surface safety valve, data header, choke manifold and ESD logic where specified. Sand filtration or desanding can be incorporated for solids-bearing flowback.
Process and measurement
Indirect heating when needed, a two- or three-phase test separator, level and pressure control and oil, gas and water measurement selected for the expected range and fluid properties.
Transfer and utilities
Surge or gauge tank, liquid transfer pumps, diverter manifolds, burner or flare interface, data acquisition, instrument air and power connection are scoped to the test plan and site facilities.
Pressure class, ratings and project documents
For a 5K design, identify the 5,000 psi inlet-class items on the P&ID and trace the pressure boundary through the safety valve and choke. Rate the downstream heater, separator, meter runs and tanks independently for their governing cases, including possible blocked outlet and relief scenarios. The offer should set out connection types, skid interfaces, individual vessel ratings, test documentation and scope exclusions. Send the flowing pressure range, expected flow profile, oil/gas/water rates and disposal arrangement so the chosen equipment matches the test objectives.

Is every vessel in a 5K well testing package rated 5,000 psi?
No. The 5K designation identifies the agreed high-pressure inlet class. The separator, heater, tank and downstream piping are designed against their own governing pressures after the choke.
