How Pumping Unit works
A pumping unit brings together pump, driver, piping, controls and structural support for a defined fluid duty. The selection begins with required flow and differential pressure, then considers fluid characteristics, suction conditions, duty cycle and maintenance access. A skid or mobile arrangement can be developed for site operations.
Matching the pump to pressure, flow and fluid
Pump selection is driven by the flow range, differential pressure, fluid viscosity, solids, temperature and duty cycle. The driver and transmission are chosen with the available power source and required turndown. Suction conditions, relief, pulsation, isolation and instrumentation must be reviewed as a complete package. Provide both normal and maximum operating cases as well as the delivery-line specification so the pump and associated piping can be sized together.
Developed for the operating duty
Typical applications
- Fluid transfer and pressure pumping
- Well servicing package integration
- Temporary field pumping duties
Inputs for engineering
- Flow range, suction pressure and discharge pressure
- Fluid viscosity, solids and corrosive constituents
- Power source, continuous duty and location constraints
What the package can include
- Pump and driver selection to the approved duty
- Suction/discharge piping, valves and pressure monitoring
- Skid, guarding, controls and functional testing
Final sizes, material grades, pressure classes, makes, testing and documentation are specified in the approved technical offer. We coordinate applicable design, fabrication, inspection and quality records against the project requirements.
Which pump type is supplied?
Pump type is chosen from the pressure, flow, fluid and operating profile; the final make and model appear in the technical offer.
