Controlled flow. Defined pressure boundaries.
A choke manifold regulates wellstream flow and creates a controlled pressure drop upstream of surface test equipment. Chokes, isolation valves and interconnected flow paths allow the operating team to manage changing well conditions during oil and gas well testing, clean-up and flowback.
MechOilfield develops skid-mounted arrangements around the required pressure class, fluid service and operating philosophy, with connections coordinated to the surface safety valve, heater and separator package.
5K & 10K project configurations
5,000 psi
Nominal working-pressure class for projects specifying a 5K manifold pressure boundary.
Selection focus: inlet duty, connection rating, operating temperature and downstream pressure protection.
10,000 psi
Nominal working-pressure class for projects specifying a 10K manifold pressure boundary.
Selection focus: high-pressure interfaces, differential pressure, choke trim and erosion duty.
Pressure classes describe configuration requirements. The supplied assembly rating, temperature limits and service suitability are established in the approved technical specification. Choke pressure reduction does not replace downstream overpressure protection.
Built around the well test programme
Surface well testing
Controlled wellstream flow during test periods, with choke selection matched to the required flow range and pressure differential.
Well clean-up & flowback
Flow regulation during recovery of well fluids. Solids loading, erosion and changing fluid conditions inform the trim and maintenance requirements.
Temporary production
Pressure reduction and flow routing within a project-engineered temporary production or early production package.
Package integration
Defined inlet and outlet interfaces with upstream isolation and downstream heating, separation and pressure-protection systems.
A coordinated manifold package
Flow-control assembly
- Fixed-bean and/or adjustable chokes selected to duty
- Isolation valves and alternate flow paths as specified
- Bypass arrangement where required by the operating philosophy
- Pressure measurement and drain connections to the approved P&ID
Skid & interfaces
- Structural skid with equipment supports
- Access for valve operation, choke adjustment and maintenance
- Connection sizes and pressure classes matched to the package
- Lifting provisions and protective finish to project requirements
Specify the duty. Define the configuration.
| Selection parameter | Project input |
|---|---|
| Pressure & temperature | 5K or 10K requirement; inlet/outlet pressure range; maximum differential; operating and design temperatures |
| Flow & fluid service | Oil, gas and water rates; fluid properties; sand loading; H₂S and CO₂ content |
| Chokes & valves | Fixed or adjustable trim; flow-path arrangement; manual or actuated operation as specified |
| Connections & materials | Bore sizes, end connections, material and service requirements |
| Skid & documentation | Footprint, access, lifting requirements, P&ID, general arrangement and inspection scope |
Quality records matched to the supply scope
The agreed inspection plan can include material identification and traceability, dimensional checks, pressure and leak testing, valve functional checks, coating inspection and final documentation. Test pressures, acceptance criteria and applicable standards are defined for the approved configuration.
